Lane Cove Road was not in fact named after the suburb. It is a large road that runs from Pymble at the junction with Pacific Highway, down to the junction with Blaxland Road at Ryde. It does not run through Lane Cove, rather it runs next to Lane Cove National Park, after which it was named.
