Time Travel Through History - We are in a room in a castle or fort and we are watching four brothers in various states of emotion. It appears that the brothers are saying goodbye to one of their number, who has just signed a document, and which they have witnessed. It's cold outside and we can hear Christmas carols being sung in the distance. What's taking place in this room?

Edward VIII signed the Articles of Abdication on the night of December 10th, 1936 at Fort Belvedere, witnessed by his three brothers, Albert, Duke of York who became King George VI, George, Duke of Kent, and Henry, Duke of Gloucester. He thus became the only British monarch to resign voluntarily. As the Duke of Windsor, he then married Wallis Simpson, the American divorcee whom he could not marry and remain king.

Christmas Question 2
Christmas Carol Trivia: Sacred Carols - This well known and beloved carol for the season of Advent is of French origin and originally had a Latin text. The melody is similar to Gregorian chant.
 People, Look East
 O Come, O Come Emanuel
 Of the Father's Love Begotten
 Savior of the Nations, Come
The correct answer is 'O Come, O Come Emanuel'
The lyrics of this carol were originally in Latin ("Veni, Veni Emmanuel") and call upon Emmanuel (which means "God with us) using various names recalling prophecies from the Old Testament: "Branch of Jesse" ( "Jesse virgula" in Latin recalling Isaiah's prophecy; see info on q.20), "Dayspring" ("Oriens" in Latin, recalling the prophecy of Malachi concerning the "Sun of Righteousness", mentioned also in "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing"), "Key of David" ( "Clavis Davidica" in Latin recalling Isaiah 22.22 "And the key of the house of David I will lay upon his shoulder."), and "Lord of Might" (this is in verse 5, which mentions the Law being given on Mount Sinai, actually uses the Hebrew "Adonai"). This song derived from the "Great 'O' Antiphons" of medieval times, which were traditionally sung at vespers in the weeks before Christmas, so-called because each verse begins with the invocation "O". According to the "New Oxford Book of Carols", there were seven such antiphons, whose initial letters (after the "O") spelled out SARCORE which, spelled backwards, is the Latin phrase "Ero cras" ("I will be [with you] tomorrow"). The melody of "Veni, Emmanuel" dates from at least the 15th century.

"Little Nicky" is another Adam Sandler movie in which the devil's son comes to Earth to retrieve his brothers and bring them back to hell before their father dies and Earth is turned into another hell, both great Adam Sandler movies.
