This is Christmas Quiz # 185, GOOD LUCK! You can head back to the main Christmas Quiz index, or try your luck at a random quiz.Christmas Question 1
Disney Memories - Lucy insists that she went into another world where she met Mr. Tumnus. Her two brothers and sister don't believe her until they find themselves in the other world, meeting characters like a lion and a witch. They go on an adventure to find the lion, Aslan, who can help them end winter so that Christmas can come. Together the four of them can conquer many quests. What is this movie?
The correct answer is 'The Chronicles of Narnia (2005)'
The complete title is "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." The actors that played Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter are all from England.
Christmas Question 2
Murder for Christmas - Simeon Lee has four legitimate sons and brags of having fathered numerous others on “the wrong side of the blanket.” How many of the characters in this novel are Simeon Lee’s sons, legitimate and otherwise?
The correct answer is '6'
In addition to his four legitimate sons, Alfred, George, David, and Harry, there is Stephen Grant, alias Stephen Farr, and Superintendent Sugden. Although neither of these men bears Lee’s name, they are his illegitimate offspring. The way the clues are dropped in this novel is particularly ingenious: most readers catch on that Stephen Farr and Harry Lee bear a striking resemblance to each other, are frequently mistaken for each other by other characters, and share some of the old man’s mannerisms (such as stroking the jaw and laughing with the head thrown back). While we are congratulating ourselves on our powers of observation, the author is dropping more subtle hints that Sugden, whom we tend to discount because he is the investigating officer (forgetting one very famous instance in Christie of the detective as murderer; I won't say which!), shares these same mannerisms and is occasionally also mistaken for either Stephen Farr or Harry Lee.
Christmas Question 3
St. Nicholas (The Original Santa Claus) - A favorite tradition in parts of Europe for St. Nicholas' day was to give children the run of the house or school for the day and to elect a "boy bishop", or "Lord of Misrule", who would take charge of the proceedings. On which other Christmas-related church feast was this tradition sometimes practiced?
The correct answer is 'Holy Innocent's Day (December 28)'
In honor of the Holy Innocents, who were the innocent and helpless victims of the mad King Herod, it was considered appropriate to give children dominion over adults for the day. In some places, the reign of the "boy bishop" would begin on St. Nicholas' Day and end on the Feast of the Innocents.

Which Breed of Cat?? - This breed was started in a 1986 Christmas catalog from Neiman-Marcus. They were created by Paul Casey, in an effort to have a leopard-look-alike cat. What breed am I talking about??

It took Paul Casey 6 generations to make this breed look exactly like he wanted. A lot of persistence, is what I call that. I got the information in my quiz from this book: Alderton, David. "Pockets; Cats." New York: Dorling Kindersley Books, 1995.
