 Red-breasted and Common
 Red-breasted and Pygmy
 White-breasted and Red-breasted

Animal Question 4
Feline Diabetes - Which of these is not a way that a vet and/or owner may use to adjust insulin dosage?
use urine strips to see if glucose is spilling into the urine
hospitalise the cat for a curve (the vet checks blood glucose values every 1-2 hours)
assessing how hard the cat bites you when he realises you're taking him back to the vet
perform a curve at home with a glucometer (a device human diabetics use to check their blood glucose)
The correct answer is 'assessing how hard the cat bites you when he realises you're taking him back to the vet'
There are advantages and disadvantages to each method. Urine testing is the easiest and cheapest, but it is very inaccurate, relies on keeping the cat's BG at a dangerously high level and cannot detect some serious problems. Curves done by a vet are very expensive and often useless. The readings themselves are very accurate, but many cats are stressed by vet visits. Stress increases BGs dramatically, so what happens at the vet may not represent what happens on a normal day at home. Home testing with a glucometer (which you can get an any pharmacy) is probably the best option for most people. Since the glucometers are made for humans they are not entirely accurate - the cat's BG will be somewhat higher than the meter shows. However, the trends - whether BGs are going up or down - are accurate, and even though the readings are a bit low they're usually better than the readings you'd get from a stressed cat at the vet's.

Animal Question 5
Gaited Horse Breeds - While it's usually not of horse-height (14.2 hands), this horse is a Nordic breed, said to be the same breed ridden by the Vikings. What breed is this?
 Nordland
 The Dales Pony
 Icelandic Horse
 Norwegian Fjord
The correct answer is 'Icelandic Horse'
The Icelandic Horse is an average of 13.2 hands, but it has one of the most unusual horse gaits-the tolt. The tolt is a four beat, lateral gait that always has one foot on the ground. It's said to be similar to the running walk of the Tennessee Walking Horse. With the flying pace, the Icelandic Horse can reach speeds of 30 miles per hour.

Animal Question 6
More Horse Colors - What type of facial marking is white that sometimes covers one or both eyes and extends down to the muzzle?
 Bald face
 Star
 Blaze
 Snip
The correct answer is 'Bald face'
This facial marking is most common on paints, sometimes giving them blue eyes where the white would be located.

Animal Question 7
Mouse Mania - Which one of these varieties of mice is most used extensively in laboratories ?

 balb- C
 Qakenbush
 agouti
 banded
The correct answer is 'Qakenbush'
The balb-C is a small pink eyed white mouse which is bred in laboratories for experiments. However, the prolific breeder, the Qakenbush, is the commonly used laboratory mouse. Genetically engineered to produce up to 26 babies per litter, they grow to approximately twice the normal size of domestic pet mice. The strain can be successfully incorporated into pet mouse colonies and succeeding litters for several generations will be consistantly larger. However as the strain dilutes, the litters will reduce to normal numbers. The size of the mice from the strain will be much larger than normal. The PEW is a pink eyed albino mouse of the pet offshoot of the laboratory mouse, and the banded is a pet mouse which has been pattern-bred to have a white band right around it's stomach.
